Is Triple Glazing Worth It?

When the majority of people think of windows they think of double glazing and recognise that two panes of glass are more energy efficient than one.  But with energy prices rising and energy resources running out we have now reached a time where double glazing is simply no longer enough. Is this the advent of energy efficient Triple Glazing in Scotland?

Is triple glazing better than double glazing?

The difference between single glazed, double glazed and triple glazed put simply if the number of panes of glass in the window. However, there are very many different variables that actually determine the performance of a window.  All window performances are rated in U-values. The higher this value is the worse the window is at being energy efficient.

Double glazing has a lower value than single glazing, but as you can imagine when you add that third pane of glass, the U value goes even lower. Of course a lot depends on the quality of the window and the glazing used, but the best U value is generally around 0.65 for a window with three panes. The Government recommended standard is currently 1.6 U-value. At Advanced our windows can go as low as 0.8 u-value, making them twice as efficient.

The benefits

Double glazing provides far better insulation than single glazing. It is an energy efficient way to upgrade single glazed windows. The logic still applies with three panes, triple glazing will provide even better insulation than double glazing. Another benefit is that triple glazing vastly reduced noise pollution.

Many people assume this form of modern glazing isn’t worth investing in because of the price difference between double glazing and triple glazing. In some instances they may be correct but that completely depends on the price you pay for your windows and the quality of the window in question.

At Advanced we absolutely believe in the benefits of triple glazing over double glazing and as such we stand by that. We only offer triple glazing as standard and we offer our triple glazing products at the same price as we used to supply our highest quality double glazing at.

Triple for the price of double. Now ask…..

“Is it worth upgrading?”

Is Triple Glazing Worth It?

What is the true cost of not looking after your gutters and downpipes?

If your washing machine wasn’t draining, you’d fix it fast. What about an overflowing sink? You’d race to drain the water. Why not take the same level of care with your guttering? At the first sign of wear and tear, you must ensure you get adequate replacement gutters and downpipes.

Your gutters act like the barrier for your roof. If they become blocked or broken, rain water will not be drained away from your home effectively. This water will start to collect in your gutters and on your roof itself. Unless your gutters are replaced, it will not take much for this water to start seeping into your home and cause massive damage to the structure of your home.

Once you start to notice water leaking from your gutterings or breaks, bulges or weaknesses along the channels, you must act immediately to protect your home from internal damage. If you have already started to notice water marks appearing on your ceilings or damp patches appearing on your internal walls, you must act immediately to limit the spread of damage within your home.

At Advanced we have developed our own roofline system. Advanced’s system ensures that your soffits, fascias, guttering and bargeboards are not only aesthetically pleasing , but also guarantee that they never rot, flake, need repainting or require any type of maintenance!

In fact, you can rest easy and forget all about having to climb up your ladders ever again because just like all of our Advanced products, the roofline system also comes with a 10 year guarantee covering all work and materials.
